Where do the retreats take place?

All retreat activities and lodging take place at Beach Colony Resort in luxurious Perdido Key, Florida, located in the Florida Panhandle between Pensacola, Florida, and Orange Beach, Alabama.

 

What's lodging like?

You'll share a spacious, first-floor-walkout, 3-bedroom, 3-bath condo with 4-6 other aspiring and established authors who, like you, want to dedicate time to writing in a supportive, inspiring, yet relaxing environment.

What's included in the pricing?

Your fee covers lodging as well as all writing retreat activities.

What is not included?

Food, transportation, or any other travel-associated costs.

Who manages the retreats?

The condo is owned and managed by author Christiane Erwin (that's me!). Usually, I will be your host, staying on site with you in one of the rooms and leading daily writing activities. During this time, my home is your home. I look forward to sharing my little slice of heaven with you!

Occassionally, we offer specialized retreats in screenwriting and memoir writing. These retreats may be hosted by someone else. Please see the booking details for more information.

What is the daily schedule like?

The retreat starts on Monday at noon. We will spend an hour getting to know one another and set personal goals. Then we dive right into a 2-hour writing block from 2-4pm before breaking for free time. 

​

On Tuesday, we get started bright and early with a mindset coaching session at 9am. Then we write from 10am-noon, break for lunch/free time, and back to writing from 2-4pm. We follow this schedule again on Wednesday and Thursday. 

​

On Friday, we gather from 9-10am to discuss our progress and say goodbye. The retreat officially ends at noon on Friday.

Do I have to follow the schedule or can I do my own thing?

You can totally do your own thing! But we ask that you respect others' desire for peace and quiet during dedicated daily writing and mindset coaching time. But, hey, if the beach is calling to you, or the pool, the hot tub, or the gym, go ahead and listen! It's your retreat :-)

Is it possible to arrive on Sunday evening to get settled in early?

Yes, for a fee, you may extend your stay by arriving as early as 4pm on Sunday or leaving as late as 10am on Saturday. Email us for details.

What are our food options?

If you enjoy cooking or simply want to keep snacks on hand, the resort condo includes a full kitchen. Its easy to stock up at either of the two grocery stores on the way into the island: Publix and Winn Dixie. Or you can choose to visit any of the area restaurants. They appreciate your support!

Do I have to share a room/bathroom?

Your stay includes sharing a room with either two full-size beds or one king-size bed. These beds are assigned first come, first served. If you would like to reserve a room solo, please email us for pricing. We recommend inviting friends or loved ones if you prefer to share a room with someone you know.
